Informatics: 4-week intensive python workshop (4 sessions)
The FAS Informatics groups will be offering a 4-week intensive python workshop
This workshop is intended to introduce students to python as a data science language. It will meet for 3 hours for 4 sessions.
- Wed, August 28 10 AM - 1 PM - Python whirlwind tour: we will cover all the basic concepts of data types, data structures, functions, and plotting in a broad overview
- Thurs, September 5 2-5 PM - Deep dive into python functions: we will learn more about how to write functions in python with additional practice exercises
- Thurs, September 12 2-5 PM - Data transformation and plotting: We will work more with the pandas and seaborn libraries
- Thurs, September 19 2-5 PM - Putting it all together in python: We will cover some meta-cognitive tips & tricks as well as work through a longer exercise that combines the previous 3 days of concepts
